Purpose. The purpose of the article is to offer a simple and accessible methodology for a comprehensive assessment of the production of agricultural products in the dynamics required for both educational and production purposes.
Methodology of research. A monographic research method using the example of a comprehensive analysis of the dynamics of wheat production over the past 23 years are used. The ratio of the average annual wheat grain production for the first (1995-1999) and last (2013-2017) five-year periods and other indicators is revealed on the basis of the economic comparison method. The use of the economic and mathematical method allowed making calculations to substantiate potential indicators of wheat yield in the objects of study. The work also widely used a graphical research method. In particular, when analyzing the average annual rate of change in gross yield, acreage and wheat yield, it is necessary to identify the trend equations.
Findings. The research results reflect changes in wheat production over the 23 years studied in absolute and relative terms; include an assessment of production stability based on the identification of coefficients of variation and types of increasing production volumes (extensive or intensive type); shows the ratio of actual and average annual sliding values of yield for the entire period; graphically depicted indicators for the study period.
Originality. The scientific novelty of the research is reflected in the method of calculating average annual changes in the indicators, as well as in the formulas presented to substantiate the potential values of wheat yield.
Practical value. The presented analysis of wheat production in the ATU Gagauzia for the years 1995-2017 is notable for its simplicity, it is quite affordable for both specialists of agricultural enterprises and students of educational institutions and therefore can find wide applications in practice.
Key words: agriculture; wheat; analysis; yield; gross yield; stability; rate of change; graph.
