Bratchuk L.M. DEVELOPMENT OF INNOVATION THEORIES (CONCEPTS) AND THEIR IMPACT ON THE ACCOUNTING SUPPORT OF INNOVATION ACTIVITIES
Purpose. The aim of the article is to substantiate the theoretical and methodological framework for accounting for innovation activities by examining the interrelationship between the evolution of economic (innovation) theory and accounting theory, as well as to further develop this framework through the identification and expansion of the accounting objects associated with innovation activities.
Methodology of research. The study employed a combination of general scientific and specialized research methods, including analysis, synthesis, induction, deduction, and idealization, to examine the development of economic, innovation, and accounting theories, identify their interrelationships, and determine the main trends in their evolution. This approach made it possible to distinguish the stages and factors underlying the formation and development of innovation theory and to assess their influence on the identification and expansion of the accounting objects of innovation activities. A systems approach was applied to examine accounting for innovation activities as an integrated information system shaped by the evolution of economic theories. The monographic method was used to critically analyse and synthesize scholarly literature on the development of economic and innovation theories (concepts), as well as accounting theories related to innovation. The modelling method was employed to develop a conceptual framework for the accounting objects of innovation activities in accordance with contemporary economic and innovation theories. Finally, the abstract and logical method was used to generalize the research findings, formulate theoretical propositions, substantiate the conclusions, and identify methodological directions for the further development of accounting for innovation activities.
Findings. The study substantiates that the development of innovation theories (concepts) is evolutionary in nature, emerging as a response to the increasingly complex needs of society. The pivotal role of science in fostering social and economic development and enhancing the efficiency of economic systems is emphasized. The impact of evolutionary changes in the formation and advancement of innovation theories on the transformation of accounting theory is investigated.
The study substantiates the necessity of aligning the theoretical and methodological foundations of accounting for innovation activities with the conceptual framework of economic (innovation) theories that have gained broad acceptance and have been interpreted within the social and economic context. Furthermore, it establishes the fundamental basis for identifying the objects and subject matter of innovation activities, thereby creating the prerequisites for further refinement of the theoretical and methodological foundations and the development of paradigm-based approaches to accounting for innovation activities.
Originality. The study further develops the scientific understanding of the formation and evolution of innovation theory by identifying four successive stages of its development: (1) the establishment of conceptual foundations; (2) the emergence of a paradigm-based understanding of innovation; (3) the recognition of science as the primary driver of innovation; and (4) the stage of globalization and digitalization. In addition, four key factors underlying this evolutionary process are identified: (1) the increasing value of new ideas as the principal form of capital; (2) the transformation of technological paradigms; (3) scientific and technological progress; and (4) sustainable development policies and concepts. This framework contributes to the further advancement of economic theory and accounting theory by deepening the identification and expanding the scope of accounting objects associated with innovation activities.
Practical value. The proposed provisions can be applied to the further development of the theoretical and practical aspects of accounting for innovation activities, as well as to defining the conceptual framework for the development of an accounting model for innovation activities aimed at enhancing the effectiveness of their management.
Key words: economic theory, innovation theory (concepts), accounting theory, accounting, innovation activities, accounting object, accounting and information support.
