Pohorielova O.M. CIRCULAR ECONOMY AS A TOOL FOR ENSURING SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT AND POST-WAR RECOVERY OF UKRAINE
Purpose. The aim of the study is to substantiate the significance of the circular economy for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals and to determine its role in the post-war reconstruction of Ukraine.
Methodology of research. A complex of general scientific methods was used in the research process. The method of analysis was used to examine scientific publications, regulatory and legal acts, and statistical data on the development of the circular economy in Ukraine and worldwide. The comparative method was applied to compare domestic and international experience in implementing circular economy principles. The method of synthesis was used to generalize contemporary approaches to the application of the circular economy as a tool for sustainable development and post-war recovery. The method of generalization was employed to formulate conclusions and identify prospects for the implementation of circular practices in Ukraine. The systems approach made it possible to consider the circular economy as an integrated model combining environmental, economic, and social dimensions of national development.
Findings. The role of the circular economy as one of the key instruments for ensuring sustainable development and post-war recovery of Ukraine has been investigated. The theoretical foundations of the circular economy concept, its main principles, and advantages over the traditional linear economic model are examined. The current state of the implementation of circular approaches in Ukraine, the features of legislative support in the field of waste management, and the prospects for harmonizing national policy with European standards are analyzed. The main challenges and prospects of Ukraine’s transition to a circular development model in the context of post-war recovery are identified.
Originality. Theoretical approaches to substantiating the role of the circular economy as a tool for the post-war reconstruction of Ukraine and achieving sustainable development goals have been improved, which makes it possible to comprehensively take into account the environmental, economic, and social aspects of the country's recovery. The substantiation of directions for implementing circular economy principles in the post-war reconstruction processes of Ukraine through increasing resource efficiency, developing a waste management system, and attracting "green" investments has been further developed.
Practical value. The obtained results can be used in the formulation of national and regional policies in the fields of waste management, resource efficiency, and the greening of production, as well as in the development of post-war recovery strategies and Ukraine’s integration into the European economic area.
Key words: circular economy, sustainable development, post-war recovery, waste management, resource efficiency, green economy, environmental policy, sustainable consumption, recycling.
