Abstract

Khumarova N.I., Kodzhebash A.P. THE GOALS OF SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT AND THE TRANSPORT AND LOGISTICS COMPONENT OF WASTE MANAGEMENT IN UKRAINE

Purpose. The aim of the article is to establish and characterize the relationship between the goals of sustainable development and the developmental areas of waste management and its transport and logistics component in Ukraine.

Methodology of research. The theoretical and methodological basis of the research is the following areas of economic science, such as development economics, resource economics, ecological economics, transport economics, as well as innovative directions of waste economics and principles of sustainable development. The following research methods have been applied: the method of comparative analysis – when determining the coefficient of using the potential of extensive waste management; grouping method – in determining the comparative potential of extensive waste management in European countries; the index method and the method of factor analysis – in formulating the goals of sustainable development of waste management.

Findings. It has been proven based on the analysis of the use of the comparative potential of extensive waste management in European countries by 2016that in Ukraine the state of waste management, which is characterized as one of the most critical, requires the improvement of both operational regulation and long-term planning. The goals of rational functioning and progressive development of the sphere of waste management, including its transport-logistic component in Ukraine, in accordance with the goals of sustainable development till 2030 are formulated.

Originality. The scientific novelty is to improve the theoretical and methodological approach to establishing and formulating interrelationships between the goals of sustainable development and the underlying goals of the development of waste management with an emphasis on its transport and logistics component.

Practical value. The obtained results of the research can be used by regional authorities in the formation of strategies for the development of the transport and logistics component of waste management.

Key words: waste; transport logistics; extensive management; the objectives of sustainable development; Ukraine.
